Things To Do Before I Die

Lately, the list of things to do before you die has become pop thanks to the film adaptation of Quentin Tarantino in Kill Bill. Everyone has a list of things to do before you die, even if it is not defined clearly. The Americans have this thing off the bucket list, i.e. the list of things to do before you die. Seriously, everyone sooner or later pronounced the classic phrase: "This is what I have to do before I die." Yes, but what? Or rather when?

I am more modest, because I'm not going to kick the bucket soon, so I decided it was time to make a list of things I would do.

One of the things to do before I die is, no doubt, travelling alone through the wildness of Africa, taking the Trans-Siberian Railway and admire the Arctic Sea from an icebreaker, drinking hot coffee in a large cup on a boat sailing through the Norwegian fjords and watching the Norther Lights or the Aurora Borealis, seeing the South Pole, crossing Route 66, taking the fastest train in the world in Tokyo, visiting the lost civilizations of the Maya and Inca in South America, participate in the Brazilian carnival, maybe in San Salvador, skiing on the dunes in the Sahara desert, kayaking on the Niagara Falls.

Another thing to do before I die is to write a book. Life goes very quickly and in fact, if we think of the past thought is common: all goes too fast. Writing a book or otherwise leaving our memories imaginative or not imprinted on paper there is an impression, maybe very narcissistic, that we can leave something extra during our earthly journey. A book is something that survives, which remains despite everything. As argued in Latin: "Verba Volant Scripta Manent".

Third, I want to put a little of adrenaline on my list to do skydiving or parachuting. Who loves strong emotions can not help being fascinated by the parachute jump but also those who put so many limits and want to face his fears can do it this way. Jumping into the void, as it may be scary, but will be a unique feeling that cannot be explained, but can only be proven. The opening of the door, to see the world from up there, the horizon line, seeing how big the world is actually below us are all good feelings that will remain etched in my head. The free fall is, of course, freedom in its purest, intoxication, a hymn to life.

Another thing I can’t resist to do before I die is buying and living on an island of my own. Of course, to do so implies a good disposable income and you could say that getting rich is a prerequisite but there are so many of those islands, lost, remote and uninhabited that you will be surprised to know how little they can cost you. Living in your own island has in it a sense of peace that prevails over everything else by exiting from the mechanisms that force our lives and will let me devote myself to self-discovery or rather to the self-care in a panacea for the body and the physical. To perform this step on an island would make it even more fascinating.

Setting goals are always challenging in life but to arrive at a predetermined point fills us with joy and satisfaction and makes us think that in the end life is beautiful. Well, the journey is indeed a fundamental page or rather many pages of our lives. Where it does not matter, what matters is that you have the eyes to experience the discovery not only as a novelty but as an inner growth to fill most of the 12 months in the calendar.

So to summarize this concept we rely on St. Augustine that could synthesize it best: "The world is a book and those who do not travel read only a page."
